Classical Compositions by Commission |
Pricing
When you commission a work you enter an elite group of Patrons of the Arts. You continue a line of leaders such as the Medici's of renaissance Italy and the Grand Dukes of Spain and Germany. You are directing and commissioning a piece of classical art. Each composition is entirely original and composed on demand. Each is dedicated to the person or cause you designate.
Our prices are neither exaggerated nor trivialized. Only two factors affect the pricing: the length of the finished work and the assignment of all copyrights. As the patron you define these parameters. The following considerations will help you make the most of your decision.
Length of the finished work
The length of your commissioned work is a serious consideration. It should neither be too long for the audience to endure nor so short that the work loses its momentous impact. A zesty 2 minute piece may be a perfect thank you or tribute. For a wedding engagement, the piece might best be kept to 3 minutes or so. For an apology, a piece of 4 or 5 minutes may prove disarming. For a commemoration the length should be appropriate for any activity or unveiling to be carried out. You are the ultimate arbiter of the length of your commission. We will gladly work with you to refine your choice.
Assignment of Copyright
It is customary that the composer retains the
copyright of his composition. The work is commissioned with a dedication
and title of the piece defined by the patron. The patron, or designee,
receives 2 pristine copies of the original work and the complete sheet
music. For an additional fee we will assign full copyright to the
music to the patron or their designee. This affords the recipient
all rights to the music including rights to publish, sell, perform and
broadcast the music through any channels and for any profit achievable.
Henceforth, even the composer cannot publicly perform the work without
a license from the new copyright holder.
