Site Guide


Currently the sites listed are in Southern California.  Special reference is made to the San Diego area, because that's where I have done most of my flying.  I welcome your contributions to this guide.

  Torrey Pines-  Fly from pier to point.  10 mile circuit.  Watch the wakes.

  Horse Canyon-  My highest flight here was 9200'.

  Little Black Mountain-  Join the crowd.

  Big Black Mountain.  Careful launch.

  Blossom Valley-  Cross the gap to El Cap.  Get high enough to make it back.

  Otay Mesa-  South launch is smooth and uneventful.  West can be rugged.

  Saboba-  An old favorite.  Hike up 400' and bench up the other 2000'.

  Las Salinas- Log some long hours.  Beware of the rattlers.

  Pine Mountain-  Over 6000' and the LZ is out of view of launch.

  Mt. Laguna-  Oh My!  Here's the big one.  Build a good j-pole antenna for your ham radio.  X-country!

  Elsinore- Stay alert.  Pokey turbulence and egomaniacs.
